Overview

Salutaris Centre is a leading-edge therapeutic clinic specializing in treating a number of conditions:

  • Primary and Secondary Lymphedema:

Lymphedema is a condition that disrupts the lymphatic system's ability to remove proteins and fluid, this may result in a chronically swollen limb or region of the body.  Lymphedema can occur either from birth or after an injury, surgery or radiation, and can become progressively worse if untreated.

  • Post-operative recovery from soft tissue, joint and bone surgery:

Examples include dental surgery, plastic surgery, second and third degree muscle  tears, fractures and any orthopedic surgery, including complete joint replacement.  Salutaris Centre offers treatments to accelerate healing by decreasing swelling, pain, and removing dead cell particles.

  • Accident or injury recovery:

Salutaris’ therapists can treat injuries much earlier than most physical therapies due to the gentleness of Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD). Early treatment with MLD results in reduced inflammation, swelling, and pain hence improving tissue healing and recovery time. Some of the more common injuries treated include: Motor Vehicle Accidents, whiplash, slip & fall accidents, cuts and burns.

Salutaris' therapists are unique in combining Dr. Vodder’s Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) and Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT) with numerous therapeutic massage techniques. Dr. Vodder’s MLD/CDT was developed in Europe in the 1940’s and is currently the leading therapeutic technique for treating lymphedema worldwide. Salutaris Centre delivers services consistent with International Best Practices in lymphedema treatment and is a one of a kind clinic in Canada.

Salutaris has built, and continues to build, referral relationships with many medical professionals, physicians, and specialists due to the extensive knowledge, training, and experience of our therapists.

Whether you have a specific treatment requirement, a concern about a soft tissue, edema, or joint related problem or are interested in generally improving your immune system function Salutaris can be of assistance.

In addition to our specialized services Salutaris therapists offer a wide range of therapeutic massage modalities including, but not limited to: deep tissue work, fascial release, trigger point therapy, and acupressure.

Specific services at Salutaris Centre include:

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) – a gentle, rhythmical massage technique that stimulates the movement of fluid in the body resulting in the reduction of proteins, inflammatory agents, dead cell particles, toxins, antigens and swelling. MLD has been demonstrated to accelerate healing and improve immune system function. In addition to reducing swelling MLD can help inflammatory conditions such as: tendonitis, bursitis and inflammatory skin conditions (acne).

    • Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT) – a combination of MLD, compression bandaging, gentle exercise, and skin care to address both primary and secondary lymphedema.  CDT is consistent with the Vodder Technique, which originated in Europe.
    • MLD/Massage Therapy  - Varying degrees of Massage Therapy can be applied to address a wide variety of soft tissue injuries, headaches, and joint mobility, or pain issues; and at Salutaris we also have the unique ability to combine both therapeutic massage techniques with MLD.  This allows therapists to customize treatments based on the client's personal case history and to address each client's unique requirements.

Salutaris Centre has appointments available from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm seven days per week with on-site reception Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. In addition, out-calls can be arranged for clients who are unable to attend an appointment at the Centre.
